Managing client expectations

5 easy steps to keep clients happy

Managing client expectations can be demanding, but get it right and you'll save yourself a lot of grief later.

Here we follow Lauren's 5 easy steps to help you get it right.

1. Plan/research

Researching and being fact confident in your subject matter will stand you above others.

2. Listen

Showing empathy and understanding of your client’s needs is essential. Communicate in a clear and concise way. Building a good relationship is vitally important.

3. Advise

Be honest and objective, never promise something that cannot be achieved, and never assume that something will be ok. It’s very easy to be a yes person, but this can ultimately lead to not reaching your goal.

4. Achieve

Always be realistic with timeframes and gain agreement on goals. Don’t be shy: address issues head on and follow through.

5. Report

Constant and accurate feedback is a must. Nothing should ever be a surprise to your client. Over achieving on a target will always see you further than falling short.

"The elevator to success is out of order. You’ll have to use the stairs ... one step at a time."
